Gus reads and reflects on Catholic News Agency article that talks about political officials in the state of Massachusetts targeting crisis pregnancy centers. He encourages any listeners in that state to contact their representatives and let them know how they feel about this and for priests to mention these things in their homilies, even it’s just a brief word. Afterwards, he asks listeners how they would feel if they heard political topics like this mentioned in Sunday homilies.
Also, prolific Catholic author Mike Aquilina calls in to talk about his latest book, “Feasts of Our Fathers: Praying the Church Year with the Early Christians,” which he co-wrote with Adam Lucas. The early Church fathers are some of Mike’s favorite people to write about and, in this book, they use their writings to help readers enhance their prayer life. He goes over just how they can do that with Gus.
And Gus talks about a practice he’s undertaken recently. There’s a county park nearby that he’s always enjoyed going to, but now they’re charging for parking in two-hour increments. When you pay for it at a machine, you get a time-stamped pass to put on your dashboard. Gus never stays the full two hours and, before he leaves, he puts the pass on top of the machine so another person who’s only staying a short time can use it. Gus does agree it’s a moral dilemma and he encourages listeners to call in and give their opinions.
