Gus recounts that it was around this time 18 years ago that he got a random email from somebody at the Archdiocese of New York asking him to consider becoming the host of their new morning show on the upstart Catholic Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio. At the time, Gus had been hosting the morning show at Spirit FM in Tampa, Florida, which was a mixture of music and talk. If was a big decision and a potentially life-altering one. Gus asks listeners about life-changing decisions they’ve made or an unexpected blessing that came from God from out of the blue.

Also, Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN calls in to talk about several Catholic news items of interest, including the National Eucharistic Congress last week in Indianapolis. Dr. Bunson gives his reflections on it. He also gives an update on the Fr. Marko Rupnik sexual abuse case as well as on those levelled against Cardinal Gerald Cyprian Lacroix, the archbishop of QuebecLis. He has been cleared of those charges following an investigation conducted by a former judge of the Superior Court of Quebec. Dr. Bunson contrasts the two cases as the latter was done thoroughly and swiftly while the former has dragged on for years. They also talk about the saint whose feast we celebrate in today's liturgy, St. Sharbel Makhlouf.
