Gus is joined by Scott Weeman, founder of Catholic in Recovery. He shares his own addiction-and-recovery story and talks about what his organization does to help those going through any sort of unhealthy addiction. He also gives advice to family members who have loved ones currently battling addiction. Afterwards, he invites listeners who've been through addiction and recovery, or have a family member or loved one who's going through it, to call in and share their stories.
Also, Gus is joined by the Executive Director and Washington Bureau Chief of EWTN News, Dr. Matthew Bunson, to go over some of the latest Catholic news, including the clergy sex abuse investigation of Bishop John Brungardt, the bishop of Dodge City, Kansas, a small liturgical change in the Collect of the mass, a lawsuit filed against the North American College in Rome by a former seminarian who says who was prohibited from studying there after witnessing homosexual contact, the rise of assisted suicide laws and the new Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Patrick Kelly.
And, we are one week away from Ash Wednesday, aka the beginning of Lent, so Gus does his annual Reading or Rosary giveaway, which serves to help listeners choose a Lenten penance or offering. Those who get on the air get to choose either a Holy Land Rosary or A Minute in the Church: Back to the Basics.
