Gus is joined by Stephen White, executive director of the Catholic Project and the editor of a new book from Catholic University Press, “Rebuilding Trust: Clergy Morale in the Wake of the Abuse Crisis,” which measures the trust Catholics have in their priests in these post-priest-abuse-scandal days. It also shows that many priests don’t trust that their bishop has their back. It’s based on a national survey of priests and offers some insights into the causes of the current state of affairs.
Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and share their perceptions of priests and talk about a priest who was there for him. In the same spirit, Gus eulogizes Msgr. John Cipel who passed away on Monday. He was Gus' former spiritual director who helped him get through the death of his father.
What was the letter/article you read about how a priest is viewed and how people view them.
