Today is the 19th anniversary of the Catholic Channel’s live debut on SiriusXM. Gus talks about how he got the job as the morning show host, the process of getting his show ready and his memories from that day.

Afterward, Dr. Matthew Bunson calls in to talk a little Catholic news with Gus, including Pope Leo XIV’s recent trip to Lebanon and Turkey. It was his very first apostolic visit since assuming the papacy back in May. He goes over some of the highlights, and he also talks about continued talks with the Eastern Orthodox Church over establishing a fixed Easter date. Afterwards, Gus talks about the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments in the case of First Choice Women’s Resource Centers vs. New Jersey (Platkin). The faith-based pregnancy resource center has accused the state attorney general, Matthew Platkin, of massive government overreach. He demanded a list of donors so that Platkin could contact and question them to make sure First Choice was on the level. Gus calls it government overreach by a million miles and nothing but a pure intimidation tactic.

Later, Bob Dunning calls in to talk about the Catholic Channel’s 19th anniversary. He was part of the original Catholic Channel lineup, hosting “Across the Nation” from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm ET each weeknight. Bob and Gus reminisce about those early days and then predict the winners of the college football Conference Championship Games this weekend.

And while cleaning up his office the other day, Gus and Michelle stumbled upon some milk grotto powder from the Holy Land that he purchased during one of their Holy Land pilgrimages. Gus invites listeners who are either trying to get pregnant or know a couple who is to call in. Those who get on the air with him win a complimentary packet.
