Yesterday, Gus announced to his audience that he is retiring at the end of the year and that his final show will be on Tuesday, December 23rd. He invites listeners to call in and give their thoughts on retirement, if they’ve gone through it, and what advice, if any, they have for him.

I had not been listening to The Catholic Channel for a few weeks. I had been listening to a different Catholic radio but I realized that I was wanting to hear YOUR show. So, I happened to tune in at the right time and catch your show where you played your music. It was great! I very much enjoyed it! However, it was on this show that someone called in and said that they were going to miss you when you left. I had to spend some time trying to figure out if that was true and where you might be going. I didn’t think you were old enough for retirement. If you are old enough for retirement… do it! It’s great! I certainly wish you and your family the best of everything! Thank you for countless hours of inspiration and smiles. You will be missed! God bless you Gus Lloyd!

Hey Gus, I’m really bummed out that you are retiring because you have an awesome show. Catholic radio is losing one of the most inspiring and influential voices out there. You touched many people’s lives with your shows and your genuine, down to earth approach. Gus, you are a class act and will be sorely missed. May God bless you in your future and your family. Also, blessings on your music ministry. Good job on your song, ‘Jesus in the mirror.’ Thanks for all you’ve done.

I have been listening to your show for many years. When I would carpool the kids to catholic school in the morning I would put on your show. We would all say “Good Morning Child of God”. Now the kids are in their late 20’s and we still say it. I bought several- Minute in the Church books and gave them as gifts for Christmas and Easter. I still listen daily and love your show. I am excited for your next chapter and wish you and your family all the best. I am going to miss your show! I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Thank you again.

    Gus
I only have the subscription to Channel 129 on Sirius XM because of your show and EWTN.
You are so awesome as the radio host of the Catholic radio station and as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end but I am so grateful to you for all the years you dedicated to sharing the Catholic faith with all your listeners.
Also, thank you so much for
all the times you lead the praying of the Holy Rosary because we all know how powerful it is to pray together and how our Blessed Mother Mary loves us to pray each day this prayer.
I pray that you will enjoy your retirement years and that God will por blessings upon you and your loved ones. Amen.

Gus, I just discovered your show during the time of the sad passing of Pope Francis, and I have continued to listen daily ever since. I’m only sorry that I didn’t find you earlier. You have so many unique gifts, it’s hard to list them all here, and I will be very sad to not hear you daily on your show, however , I know that God has many blessings ahead for you and your family.

I’ve learned so much from you, not only about scripture and about our catholic faith, but about how to be a better person, you really are a class act and an example to many. I hope we will hear more from you in one way or another.

Even when you are having fun on your show, and you encourage us to have fun, you have so much focus and direction, and you have a unique quality of really engaging your listeners. I am someone who has never enjoyed listening to talk radio at all, and yours is the only show I listen to. The number of things you get accomplished in a relatively short period of time is incredible. May God bless you and your family for many years to come.

Did your knee and other bodily pain influence your decision to retire?
