Fr. Leo Patalinghug calls in for his final Seize the Day appearance, and they share some of their memories from the show and the pilgrimages they’ve taken together through the years. Fr. Leo also talks about being a boss and what goes into boosting their morale and disciplining them whenever necessary. They look back on the Miracle of the Brussels Sprouts, where Fr. Leo visited Fr. Leo at his home several years ago and prepared a brussels sprouts recipe for Gus. Gus confessed on the air that he’d hated that particular vegetable ever since he was a kid. Fr. Leo prepared a dish with olive oil and bacon and converted Gus. That was followed a few years later by the Miracle of the Lima Beans, which had a similar outcome. Fr. Leo also provides an update on his food truck, which has been out of commission because of mechanical issues, and he’s still looking for potential staff for his restaurant plans. They wrap it up talking about Fr. Leo’s YouTube channel, which continues to grow. He talks about his purpose of talking about contemporary issues through a pastoral lens.

Later, Gus hosts his final Conversion Corner, with Joshua Mangels, a former Pentecostal minister, as his guest. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest in an evangelical family, where his grandparents, originally from the South, served as the spiritual leaders of the family. It led to Josh becoming a pastor and he ministered at an Assemblies of God church with his wife, Teresa in the Seattle area. He shares his journey from youth minister to pastor to converting to Catholicism with his wife. Joshua also talks about his current ministry, where he advises Protestant pastors who are seeking to convert to Catholicism.

And Gus talks about the unconfirmed reports that Pope Leo XIV has accepted Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s resignation and will appoint Joliet, Illinois Bishop Ronald Hicks as his successor. Gus talks about how all bishops are required to submit their letter of resignation when they hit their 75th birthday, which Cardinal Dolan did back in April.
