Today is the Feast of St. Lawrence, deacon and martyr and is the patron saint of the permanent diaconate. Deacon Andy Saunders, the director of the Center for Diaconal Formation and adjunct professor of pastoral theology at Seton Hall University, calls in to talk about the permanent diaconate and share his own vocation story. He talks about the discernment process done by the Church for potential deacons and talks about the things deacons can and cannot do in service of the Church.

Gus' tribute to deacons continues with his friend Deacon Tom Strohmetz. He is a recently ordained deacon and he shares his vocation story and what being a permanent deacon has been like for him so far.

And Gus invites listeners to call in and talk about a deacon in their life who they'd like to honor.
