Gus is joined first thing by Fr. Jason Charron, a Ukrainian Catholic priest who gave the opening benediction at the Trump Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania minutes before shots rang out in an assassination attempt of the former president. He was walking back to his car to head to another event when the incident took place and panic ensued. He was unclear about what happened until one of his parishioners, who was in the audience, texted him that Donald Trump had been shot. He tells Gus and the listeners the rest of the story.
Later, Catholic author/speaker Jesse Romero calls in to talk about his new book, “One Lord, One Faith, One Church: An Inconvenient Truth,” available from Sophia Institute Press. In his book, which he co-authored with Paul Zucarelli, Jesse presents hard evidence about why Jesus Christ established the Church, through Scripture and writings of the early Church fathers, and what we are supposed to do while we await the inevitable – the death of our bodies. During the course of their conversation, Gus and Jesse talk about Catholic converts in that Gus has spoken to so many who bought into the Catholic faith after reading the writings of the early Church fathers. Gus invites listeners who are converts, or have a convert in their lives, to call in and talk about it.
Also, in today’s First Reading from Isaiah, the Lord says, “Unless you faith is firm, you shall not be firm!” Gus says that firmness of faith is laid out in some of the previous passages, including, “Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail.” Gus says we need to lean into our faith especially in bad times. Gus invites listeners to call in and talk about how their faith got them through tough times.
Just wanted to let you know I finally got SiriusXM app on my phone so I was able to hear this episode later that day with FR. Charron. Had my daughter in the car she was able to hear it as well. Don’t know why I waited so long. Love your show.
