Gus is joined by Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN to talk about some news of Catholic interest and they begin by talking about the health of Pope Francis. He was admitted to the hospital on Friday with respiratory issues. He was expected to be released on Monday, but, as of today, has not been released yet. It is an infection and has had longstanding respiratory issues. As a young man, he did have a lung removed. They also discuss the public disagreement between Vice President JD Vance and Pope Francis over the Church teaching of Ordo amoris, in defense of the Trump Administration’s mass deportation of the 10-20 million illegal immigrants allowed into the country by the Biden Administration. The teaching of Ordo amoris is that you take care of your citizens first and then you can take care of non-citizens and foreigners.

Last week, Pope Francis addressed the bishops of the United States via letter over the topic of illegal immigration and the mass deportation efforts currently underway by the Trump administration. Gus reads the letter and reflects on it and then invites listeners to call in and give their comments.

And Catholic author Gary Jansen calls in to talk about his new book, “The Healing Power of Praying the Rosary,” available from Loyola Press. Gary shares his faith journey with Gus and what exactly moved him to start praying the Rosary and investigate further to power of contemplative prayer. He talks about the blessings he’s received from praying the Rosary and urges others to do so and be patient. He also gives basic instructions on how to pray the Rosary.
