In a recent interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Vice President JD Vance used the Catholic teaching of “ordo amoris” to justify the Trump administrations crackdown on illegal immigration and mass deportation in the United States. It created an international debate, which resulted in Pope Francis sending a letter of concern to the USCCB. Gus reads the story from Catholic News Agency and gets listener reaction.

Also, today is the Valentine’s Day, Gus spends a good deal of time talking about the ancient saint’s life and legacy and explained that the feast was removed from the Roman calendar in 1969. The major feast today is that of Sts. Cyril and Methodius.

And it's Friday so Gus dedicates some time for prayer with listeners and prays an Intentional Rosary and reads and reflects on the writings of St. Augustine of Hippo in Friday w/the Fathers.

I am concerned about the dismantling of USAID, especially its impact on Catholic Relief Services programs. Even with ordo amoris, isn’t the less than one percent of the federal budget for USAID vital? There has been confusion and, frankly, misrepresentations of USAID programs to justify ending the entire agency. A quick look at FactCheck.org reveals that most accusations of fraud and false and others are miniscule to justify removing funding for CRS.
Perhaps you could invite a representative from CRS, such as my archbishop, Nelson Perez, to speak about how USAID is essential to its work. I know that Catholic Charities here is Philly also depends largely on government funding.
The issue has to be addressed soon, otherwise it will be too late to save CRS.
    Thank you,

Gus, just a piece of advice for you and all those people that think Trump actually cares for you. If you’re actually at a point where you are conflicted over Trump vs the Pope, go with the Pope!
