Gus previews today’s guest, Fr. Michael Hartley, who co-hosts a popular YouTube podcast called “The Panhandle Padres.” Fr. Michael also has a tattoo sleeve on his arm, which is filled with religious imagery. Gus talks about how, when he was a kid, only sailors and bikers had tattoos, but how that has changed. He invites listeners to call in and share their feelings about tattoos, whether or not they have any, and, if not, what they would have tattooed on them if they decided to do so.
Later, Fr. Michael Hartley calls in to talk about his show, which is titled after where they live, the Panhandle of Florida, and not what they do. He talks about growing up Catholic, his vocation calling, and his tattoos, what they mean, and why he’s good with them. He’s also a longtime Seize the Day listener and he and Gus share how he came about being on the show.
And Bob Dunning calls in to talk with Gus about Ohio State’s national championship win over Notre Dame and looks about at the season and the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
