Today is the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Gus talks about the Catholic teaching and belief on the Mother of God and why she plays such an important role in our faith and the world. Oftentimes, the Catholic devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary comes with having to defend it, and she’s just one of the several things Catholics often have to defend to their Protestant friends. Gus asks listeners if they’ve ever had to defend their faith and invites them to call in and share it.
Also, Fr. Leo Patalinghug calls in to talk with Gus on a number of topics, including great Catholic speakers and how he fills when he’s not celebrating mass and is listening to another priest preach. Some of Fr. Leo’s favorites include Mother Teresa, Fr. Mike Schmitz and Fr. Roger Landry. We’re also in state fair season, so Fr. Leo shares his feelings on fair food and, on the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Fr. Leo gives an explanation of what that means.
Later, Bob Dunning calls in to talk about Week 0 of the college football season, which is this Saturday. The big game is Florida State vs. Georgia Tech at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. They also talk about the big changes in the game this season with conference realignment, the extinction of the Pac-12 and NIL.
