Gus is joined by Dr. Italy, Marcellino D’Ambrosio, the executive producer of “Triump of the Heart,” the new biopic about St. Maximilian Kolbe and his death in the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz, during the Holocaust. It was actually written and directed by his son, Anthony. They talk about the film’s conception, development and where listeners can watch it when it opens on September 12th and even launch a screening near them.
Inspired by this film and Gus' devotion to St. Maximilian Kolbe, Gus invites listeners to call in and share the saint with whom they have a strong connection.
Later, Bob Dunning calls in to the show to preview the 2025 college football season. Since Gus will be off the next two Thursdays, they go over some of the big games from the first two weeks and Bob picks the winner of the Ohio State v. Texas game.
Also, Gus advises listeners of a hardship experienced by one of our own Catholic Channel family members, Brett Siddell of the Busted Halo Show. Earlier this week, he was the victim of fraud and online theft, which wiped out his and his wife's savings completely. BustedHalo.com launced a GoFundMe page to help him recoup some of his losses.
