Gus does an interactive edition of Friday w/the Fathers with listeners. Gus will be away on pilgrimage during the Feast of St. Augustine on August 28th. He is considered a Church father whose writings are featured in William A. Jurgens’ “Faith of the Early Fathers.” But instead of that book, Gus reads from “Augustine Day-By-Day,” a book his bride Michelle gave him years ago that features an Augustine pearl of wisdom for each day of the year. He invites listeners to call in, pick a date and Gus reads St. Augustine’s meditation for that day.

Also, today is the Feast of the Assumption, a holy day of obligation in the Catholic Church. Gus talks about its meaning, which is the Blessed Virgin Mary being assumed into heaven. He also talks about why it’s a holy day of obligation and the importance of her in the life of the Church. Afterwards, he prays an Intentional Rosary with listeners and, in honor of today's feast day, does the Glorious Mysteries.

Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for us!
