It seems that Catholic churches offer many things these days, including Vacation Bible Schools and youth camps. He invites listeners to call in and talk about what they did as kids and any religious instruction their kids have gotten during their summer breaks.
Later, Catholic writer Russell Shaw calls in to talk about his new book with David Byers called "Revitalizing Catholicism in America: Nine Tasks for Every Catholic." He talks about the state of the faith in the U.S. today, which seems to be at a low point, and how we got here. He also talks about things we can do to help restore faith in an otherwise fallen nation.
Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and share what they're doing to help revitalize the Catholic Church in their parish or diocese.
