Gus goes over some Catholic News items of interest, including the USCCB's response to the 30 Catholic Democrats who signed a statement vowing their support of abortion, citing their Catholic faith, human rights and the words of Pope St. John Paul II as reasons why. The U.S. bishops have rebuked this group of Catholic Democrats and cites the Catholic Church's longstanding theological stance against abortion and affirming the life of every human being from conception to natural death. Also, Gus talks about the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling in Groff v. DeJoy that targeted a Christian U.S. postal worker for forcing him to work on Sundays. The court said that federal law requires an employer that denies an employee a religious accommodation must show that the burden of the accommodation would result in substantial increased cost. The SCOTUS ruled that hostility toward a religion is not a factor.

It's the final Friday of the month, which means Gus dedicates Prayer Time to an Intentional Rosary with listeners. Also, in today's Friday w/the Fathers, Gus honors St. Irenaeus, whose feast day we celebrated on Wednesday, by reading some excerpts from his treatise "Against Heresies."

St. Irenaeus, pray for us!
