Gus talks about the embarrassing moment he had a mass yesterday morning. Gus is a lector but forgot that he was reading at mass. Another lector processed with the priest and the altar servers up to the altar when it suddenly dawned on him. He slipped out of his pew as mass started and sidled up to the other reader, apologized and agreed to read the first reading. Of course, he was completely under-dressed for the occasion. Gus asks listeners who've experienced an embarrassing moment at mass to call in and share their stories.

Also, Gus talks about the laicization of disgraced ex-Cardinal McCarrick over his sexual abuse of minors and grown men and women. Gus asks if that's the end to it all because he still has questions, including, with all the whispers of his improprieties through the years, how did he rise to the rank of cardinal? These are questions Gus fears will never be answered because the Vatican has seemingly shut the door on the entire issue.

Also, it wouldn't be a Seize the Day Monday without a little Tell Me Something Good.

    Cynthia,
You are probably listening to a replay. The show airs live from 7:30-10 a.m. eastern time M-F. It replays from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. During the replay no one is there to answer calls.

    Dear Gus,
I listen to Seize the Day almost every day. I have tried several times over the past year to call in to your show, but the line just rings and rings and rings…and then goes dead. No voice mail message that prompts me to “please call back later” or “please hold” or “please leave a message.” I am using my cell phone to call. The number I believe I have is correct: 888-322-8465.
