Today is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It's one of only three birthday's celebrated by the Church in the liturgical calendar (the other two being Jesus and St. John the Baptist). Gus goes over what the Catholic Church teaches about Mary and answers some common objections to its veneration of the Mother of the Savior. Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and share their devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary and answers questions that anyone might have about the Catholic Church's devotion to her.
Later, Gus talks about a fellow parishioner who he's seen at mass every Sunday for several years but to whom he has never spoken. Not long ago, after mass, in the parking lot, the man came up and introduced himself to Gus and said his sister was visiting recently and pointed to Gus and said he's the talk show host he listens to every day on the Catholic Channel. Since then, the man has listened to Seize the Day and become a fan. It reminds Gus of that old saying that the personal recommendation is often the strongest. Gus invites listeners to call in and talk about how they found Seize the Day.
Pray for us, O Blessed Virgin Mary!
