Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN News calls in to talk about Pope Francis’ trip/pilgrimage to Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, which will be 12 days in length and the longest yet of his papacy. What makes it remarkable is that the pope is now 87-year-old and, for the most part, confined to a wheelchair. Dr. Bunson lays out much of the itinerary and why exactly the pope is making this trip. Afterwards, Gus and Dr. Bunson talk about a teacher in Ireland named Enoch Burke who has been jailed for a third time for committing the heinous crime of not addressing a student by her preferred pronouns. They talk about how conscience protections are the latest target of the trans movement. They wrap up talking about Dr. Bunson’s forthcoming trip to the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress in Quito, Ecuador.
Afterwards, Gus talks more about the teacher Enoch Burke who’s been imprisoned in Ireland over not referring to a student by her preferred pronouns and invites listeners to call in and talk about it. He asks them, is it nobler to stand up for the truth over something as ridiculous as this or should he just give in, “be nice” and call his students by whatever pronoun they prefer?
