Prolific Catholic author, speaker and songwriter Mike Aquilina calls in to talk about his latest book, “Rabbles, Riots and Ruins: Twelve Ancient Cites and How They Were Evangelized.” Mike and Gus discuss several ancient cities, including Rome, Jerusalem, Antioch and Alexandria, that once raged against the Gospel and persecuted Christians and how they were evangelized by Jesus’ disciples following his death. Mike goes into what life was like in these cities at the time, how sin was commonplace and accepted and what the early missionaries of Christ faced, but how they ultimately succeeded.
Later, Gus reads and reflects on a story from the Pillar about how the Diocese of San Diego, California has banned homeschool groups from being on parish properties. Gus talks about how, as a former homeschooling parent, he’s dismayed by this news and talks about how homeschooling is a steadily growing trend.
