Today is the Feast of St. Matthias, the successor of Judas. Gus talks about Apostolic Succession and the Catholic Church and how every priest who’s been ordained can trace his ministerial lineage back to the Apostles in the Upper Room. He takes questions and comments from listeners.

Also, Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN calls in from Rome to talk about the election of Pope Leo XIV and what it was like to witness firsthand. He also talks about his forthcoming book about the new pontiff entitled “Leo XIV: Portrait of the First American Pope,” which is set to be released on May 21st by EWTN Publishing. One lingering issue that Pope Leo XIV will have to address are the many financial scandals centering around the Vatican Bank. It’s something that many of his predecessors have had to confront and it’s rumored that the complicated nature of them is one of the reasons for Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation. Gus invites listeners to call in and talk about whether or not that’s affected their charitable giving to the Church.
