Gus tells his audience that next week he’ll be going in for his second total knee replacement surgery and will be receiving the Anointing of the Sick before he goes under. He asks listeners if they ever received that sacrament and what that was like for them.

Also, Fr. Leo Patalinghug joins Gus for the first time since the election of his namesake, Pope Leo XIV. Fr. Leo was leading a pilgrimage in Rome during Pope Francis’ funeral, as it was originally scheduled to attend Blessed Carlo Acutis’ canonization mass. He talks about how Rome was abuzz during his time there with everyone asking who will be the next pope? He shares his reaction when Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, was announced and what he expects his papacy to be like. Also, Gus asks him what kind of meal he would prepare for the pope if he had the opportunity.

Later, Bob Dunning calls in to share his thoughts on the election of Pope Leo XIV and how they once shared the same first name.

And Gus shares some Catholic news of interest, including the possibility of Planned Parenthood being defunded by the new Congressional budget bill.
