We are at the Lent halfway point so Gus invites listeners to call in and give their midterm reports.
Also, Gus revisits yesterday's topic about mass donations and gets listener perspective on how much they offer for a special mass intention.
Later, Gus invites listeners to call in who teach the faith. Those who get on the air win a prize as a thank you for their dedication to passing along the faith.
Heard Gus talking about prayer being our spiritual armor – so I was waiting for him to talk about the “Spiritual Armor Prayer” – from one of my prayer books it says it is based on Ephesians 6:13-17
Spiritual Armor Prayer – Heavenly Father we ask You today for Your truth as a belt tight around our loins. We put on the zeal to announce Your good news of peace as shoes for our feet. We put on Your righteousness, O Christ, as our breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet for our head. Father we take faith as a shield which is able to put out all the fiery darts of the enemy, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word, O Lord . Father, may the love with which You have loved Jesus be in us, and may Jesus be in us. We ask You for the grace of a servant heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen
At my Parish when I request a mass for special intentions, payment of any kind is not a requirement. They always tell me when I ask that most people give $5. It is however, difficult at our church to get a specific date, unless you ask way in advance. So many special intentions are booked out in the future that we just have to take the date that we are given, which I believe is reasonable. Grapevine, TX
