Dr. Joseph Meaney of the National Catholic Bioethics Center calls in to talk about their strategic partnership with Legatus in an effort to help Catholic business leaders navigate pro-life and bioethical issues. Before that, he and Gus have a long discussion about bioethical issues the Catholic Church and people of faith are facing today, including abortion, genetic engineering and gender ideology.

Afterwards, Gus goes over a few news items of Catholic interest, and which reflect his conversation with Dr. Meaney, including the passage of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 in Congress, which bars all biological males from participating in women’s sports in all public K-12 school. Any school that violates the bill would be denied federal funding. The bill now heads to the Senate. Also, the Catholic Medical Association is suing the Biden Administration over its attempt to force emergency room doctors to perform abortions under a 40-year-old federal law.

Also yesterday, Gus played a large portion of his show from January 22, 2024. It was his first show back after battling shingles for around a month. He talks about how it was incredibly difficult to hear at times and he still wonders what he was supposed to glean from it because it is a distant memory now. He shares that he has gone back to doing things the way he normally does, for better or worse, but does still believe that it was for a reason. He invites listeners who’ve received grace through suffering to call in and share their stories.
