Gus talks about Halloween with listeners and asks them to call in and share how they feel about the holiday, if/how they celebrate it, what traditions they have and what are some of their favorite costumes they wore.
Also, Gus is joined by notable Catholic speaker/host/author Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers, to talk about his new book, "Building a Civilization of Love: A Catholic Response to Racism." He talks about the differences between prejudice and racism and what systemic racism is, provides examples and talks about how, within the Catholic Church, several bishops during segregation went against the culture because it violated the teachings of Jesus Christ. He also dispels the notion that, at one time, the Church, as a whole, endorsed slavery. He also talks about the slavery in salvation history, beginning with the children of Israel and he and Gus discuss more contemporary issues like critical race theory and the Black Lives Matter organization and why they're problematic because of their Marxist, divisional roots.
And Gus talks briefly about the conclusion of the 2023 portion of the Synod on Synodality and the final document that's been presented to Pope Francis, which calls for greater co-responsibility in the Church.
