This past Sunday, FOX Nation debuted “The Saints,” a mini docudrama series produced and narrated by Martin Scorsese. There are eight episodes in total, four of which are currently available for streaming, and feature the stories of St. Joan of Arc, St. John the Baptist, St. Maximilian Kolbe and others. Paul Elie, a senior fellow and director of the American Pilgrimage Project as well as a collaborator on this project, calls in to talk about the series and its inspiration. This has been a career-long ambition for Scorsese who grew up in New York City and served as an altar boy at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Lower Manhattan.
Afterwards, inspired by his conversation with Paul Elie, Gus invites listeners to call in and share a saint with whom they have a special connection.
I’m not sure how to get in tough with you Gus, but sometime in the last two weeks of November, I think it was, you recited a prayer you made up while on a retreat entitled something like: Drain Me
I am hoping to get a copy of that prayer to share with the members of our Hospitality and Caring Ministry at church. I do a spiritual reflection every month at our meeting.
I am enjoying the mini series of The Saints on Fox Nation so far. I didn’t know much about St Joan of Arc so it was enlightening. I watched St John the Baptist episode yesterday. I was a bit surprised that they skipped over some details of John’s life and relation to Jesus. I chalked that up as trying to fit the story into 40-45 min. What I was most surprised of is what I saw in the trailer introducing John. In describing who John was, the words “He foresaw the coming of a prophet” appear on screen. Are they suggesting Jesus was a prophet? It should be, “He foresaw the coming of the Messiah”.
Your show on 11/18/2024. My comment: USA has so many job that could be stated a starter job. Roofing helpers, house keeping in motels. Jobs that would just pay min wage. The young people in the USA do not want to work for that low hourly rate. FYI!
