Right around the time Seize the Day went on air, Crux broke a story detailing restrictions placed on former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick by the Vatican. McCarrick, who was laicized this past winter over improper sexual conduct with seminarians and others, had travel restrictions imposed on him. Over the course of time, however, the restricted seemed to lax and he did travel and resumed normal activities. He even had a role in a controversial deal Pope Francis made with China in 2018. Crux's founder and editior, John Allen, calls in breaks it all down for Gus and the listeners.
Gus recaps the Spirituality of St. Paul Pilgrimage, including some of the great meals they had and the Mosta Church, which featured a painting of the Annunciation, which moved Gus to tears. Also, while on pilgrimage, Gus and his fellow pilgrims visited the Catacombs of St. John in Siracusa. While in there, Gus snapped a few pictures but was told by one of the guides that photography was forbidden and didn't tell him why. Gus has these incredible photographs and, because of the rule, isn't sure whether or not he should post them. He asks listeners what they think he should do.
Hi Gus: your show today was on beauty in art (May 28) an artist from Northern Canada who has gained world renown is Fr Bern Will Brown OMI. The latter days of his life were spent in Coleville Lake just North of the Arctic Circle . In the Church of Our Lady of the Snows , Coleville Lake there is a painting of Mary holding baby Jesus up in the air before her face with her two hands. It is a beautiful painting of the joy in and through Jesus.
