Last week, Gus talked about how the Los Angeles Dodgers rescinded their invitation to an anti-Catholic drag group called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to their Pride Night after an outcry by Catholic leaders. Not only did they invite them, but they were set to honor them. Well, they have reversed their decision and the invitation and honoring is back on. Gus invites listeners to call in and sound off on the Dodgers choice.
Later, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse of the Ruth Institute calls in to talk about her recent NC Register op/ed piece, "The Born Gay Myth: When Ideology Masquerades As Science." It's a common belief that many people are born gay, but Dr. Morse disputes that and says there's no science to back that claim. She explains to Gus and the listeners why.
And Gus wraps up by reading a breaking news story outside of the state of Massachusetts where a state panel is examining the its child abuse laws to see if it covers protecting trans kids from their parents. Gus invites listeners to call in and chime in on that or his conversation with Dr. Morse.

Sorry to Mr. Terlizzi, but the church is not here to be more current and open minded with our times and culture. That is for the secular world. It is here to stand for the truth.

I generally agree with Gus Lloyd and enjoy his show, but this is one of the very few times I must disagree. As a clinical social worker for over 25 years, I have dealt with many people of homosexual orientation. There is no evidence that a person is born gay, however is there also no evidence of what actually determines a person sexual orientation. I do know that sexual orientation is not a choice leaving the only logical explanation is that sexual orientation is biological, and simply a make up of a person’s individual temperaments…and that is how you are born. It is no different than trying to determine what makes a person right or left handed or why some people are better learners intellectually than others. I feel it was totally inaccurate for Gus to say that being born gay is a myth. Don’t call a sexual orientation a myth until there is a logical explanation and not an assumption. And I must reiterate that it is not a choice. I do not know the background of Dr. Morse, but like many people who do not understand the various sexual orientations of a person, I believe Dr. Morse and Gus simple are not educated enough on this subject.
As a devout catholic, I wish the church would be more current and open minded with our times and culture. Thank you Gus Lloyd for your show, your ministry and your prayers. God Bless.
