Gus talks about today's Gospel reading from John where Jesus encounters the crippled man who'd been ill for 38 years at the healing pool in Bethesda where he asks the man what he wants. Gus says that it's pretty obvious what the man wants but that things happen in God's time, and it wasn't this man's time until he had an encounter with Jesus. He asks listeners to call in if they ever had to wait a long time for an answer to prayer.
Also, Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN News calls in to talk about several news stories of Catholic interest, including Pope Francis issuing Praedicate Evangelium, a new apostolic constitution that fulfills his promise of reforming the Roman curia. He also talks about the pope's consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary this past Friday and the pope meeting with the Canadian Indigenous leaders at the Vatican.
And, Gus says that yesterday he and his bride Michelle went bowling and shares that that's how they met over 40 years ago. Gus worked at a bowling alley and Michelle was in a bowling league. After having their first child and moving to Florida, they stopped playing. He invites listeners who play a sport or do an activity with their spouse to call in and talk about it.
