Gus dedicates most of the show to talking about divorce, remarriage and annulments. Last week, the subject came up after he’d talked with Fr. Donald Haggerty about his new book, “The Hour of Testing: Spiritual Depth and Insight in a Time of Ecclesial Uncertainty” and opened up the phones to talk with listeners about hot button issues. One caller named Lisa mentioned divorced-and-civilly-remarried Catholics not being able to receive communion and how she took issue with that. She also stated that annulments cost anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000. Gus replays the phone call, disputes the fact that it costs money and takes listeners’ calls. Many call up to talk about their own individual experiences in the annulment process.
Later, Gus does his daily Lenten reading and reflection on Thomas a Kempis' spiritual classic "Imitation of Christ."
