Catholic author and life coach Rose Sweet calls in to talk about her new book, “My Type of Holiness: Striving for Sainthood with the Temperament God Gave Me.” Rose talks about the four classic temperaments, Melancholy, Phlegmatic, Choleric and Sanguine, and how they can compliment or go against each other. She talks about how, regardless of your personality type, you can experience a deeper relationship with God especially with understanding and self-awareness. She also talks about the personality type of some of our most revered saints.
Also, one of the final things Pope Francis did before he died was to update the norms of mass intentions. For centuries, the faithful have been able to request that a public mass be offered for a special intention, most often for the deceased, the sick, the dying, etc. It can be for almost anything and it’s usually accompanied with a small financial donation, although that’s not a requirement. The pope’s aim was to make sure that, if there were multiple offerings for one particular mass, the donors must be explicitly informed and freely consent. Gus invites listeners who’ve requested mass intentions to call in and share what their experience was like.
Gus also goes over a few Catholic news items, including Pope Leo XIV resuming the papal summer vacation tradition at Castel Gandolfo, which Pope Francis got away from. Also, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke spoke at the London conference organized by the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales and appealed to Pope Leo to "put an end the persecution" of Latin mass Catholics that started under Pope Francis' pontificate and make it easier for those who favor it to attend. And, on Friday, approximately 200 displaced Nigerian Christians were killed by militants who shouted “Allahu Akhbar (God is great)” while brutally murdering their victims.
And Gus continues his tribute to his 2012 book “Magnetic Christianity: Using Your God-Given Gifts to Build the Kingdom” by playing the audio version chapter on "Approachability."
We were listening to you on Sirius XM on the Catholic Channel on the way home from the doctor’s office. We listened to your talk on approachability. It moved us in a very spiritual way! My wife was in tears after listening to you! It moved us so much that I jumped on the computer when we got home and purchased Magnetic Christianity. We are looking forward to reading the entire book! We are both life long Catholics, and we believe that your book will help us to get closer to God! Thank you so much for your time doing this! We really appreciate what you are doing! May God bless you abundantly!
