Gus recounts a homily he heard a priest give once on today’s Gospel where he downplayed the feeding of the multitudes and chalked it up to the people in attendance sharing the food they bought. Gus said he took umbrage with his homily, as well as some others he had given, and eventually left that parish altogether. He asks listeners if they’ve ever had a disagreement with a pastor and what they did about it.
Also, Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN News calls in to talk with Gus about some of the latest headlines of Catholic interest, including Pope Francis accepting Washington D.C. Cardinal Archbishop Wilton Gregory’s resignation and inserting San Diego Cardinal Robert McElroy in his place. Cardinal Gregory turned 75 two years ago, and bishops are required to submit their resignations when they turn that age and it’s the pope’s decision when he accepts it. Also, Pope Francis has appointed a woman, Sister Simona Brambilla, to co-head a the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life along with Cardinal Angel Fernandez Artime. Lastly, it’s been confirmed that New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan will be leading the prayer at President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th.
And Gus continues his Swear Word Substitute conversation with listeners from yesterday.
