Today is the Feast of St. Paul Miki and His Companions who were crucified in Japan on February 5, 1597. Author Walt Mussell calls in to tell their story, which he details in his new book "The Samurai's Heart." Their story was recently adapted into a major motion picture by Martin Scorcese in 2016.
Also, Gus talks about family members and loved ones who stray from the faith and the impact it can have and how most are not open to conversion from those closest to them. Gus asks listeners if God ever sent someone into the life of a child, a spouse, a relative or a friend who led them to the conversion or maybe you were the person who strayed and somebody came into your life who helped you find your faith.
And, there can sometimes be a lot of confusion caused by today's Gospel where Jesus condemns the Pharisees for sometimes emphasizing human traditions that nullify the Word of God. Gus explains the difference between that and Sacred Tradition.
