Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes which celebrates when the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to a young French girl named Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France in 1858. Her appearances reinforced the Church’s dogmatic teaching on the Immaculate Conception and revitalized the practice of the faith in that area and around the world. Since then, a shrine has been built that has resulted in numerous healings over the decades. Gus invites listeners to call in and share their favorite sacred shrine.
Also, Gus talks about the new Led Zeppelin documentary, “Becoming Led Zeppelin,” which is already in theaters. He’s going to see it this weekend and is very excited but talks about how he’s been conflicted over his love for the band since his conversion. Led Zeppelin does have some song with overtly sexual lyrics and Jimmy Page was into the occult when Zeppelin was at their peak. Nevertheless, he still loves the music and believes he’s pretty well adjusted spiritually that it’s not going to lead him down a dark path. He invites listeners to call in and talk about their relationship with pop music and faith.
And Catholic author Hugh Owen calls in to talk about his new book, “Loved, Lost and Found: A Guide to Reclaiming Your Lost Human Heritage and Your Heavenly Inheritance.” Hugh gives a scientific perspective on why we need to go back to what God has taught us since the Book of Genesis.
Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!
