Ben Broussard, chief communications officer of Catholic Charities of Acadiana, Louisiana, calls in to give us an update on the aftermath of Hurricane Ida in New Orleans and surrounding areas. He talks with Gus about what they're doing to help those who are stranded and how all Catholic Charities of Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and other nearby areas have formed a bond to get each other through these natural disasters. He always talks with Gus about why people in that area choose to stay there in spite of hurricanes and the PTSD that does impact the area. To make a tax deductible donation, text the word "Relief" to 797979.
Later, Gus reads and talks about a recently-published Catholic News Agency article that talks about the new plight of persecuted Christians in Afghanistan now that all U.S. and Allied Forces have pulled out of that country completely. It is now the second-worst place in the world for Christians to live after North Korea.
And, Gus talks about the three things that every Catholic household needs, a Bible, a crucifix and a Rosary. He later adds a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and invites listeners to call in and share what they have and any special story behind any of them.
