There's a new movie coming out about the early life of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, aka Padre Pio, starring Shia LaBeouf. The bigger news is that the troubled actor has seemingly begun his conversion to the Catholic faith and did a long, sit-down interview with Bishop Bob Barron. Gus plays a portion of that interview and then talks with listeners about celebrity conversions.
Later, Gus talks a little more about the Shia LaBeouf movie about young Padre Pio. He asks listeners what saint they would make a movie about if they could.
And Dr. Matthew Bunson of EWTN News calls in to talk about some news stories of Catholic interest, including the 20 new cardinals Pope Francis ordained this past weekend, Pope Francis being the first pope in 700 years to open the Holy Doors in L'Aquila, Italy where Pope Celestine V. is buried Celestine V was the last pope to resign before Pope Benedict XVI made his announcement in 2013. Incidentally, in the months leading up to that announcement, he too had visited the late pope's grave.
