In the wake of the massive damage caused by Hurricane Helene, Gus has heard some incredible stories of various blessings those affected have received. Some of them have been financial, but others have been things that satisfy an immediate physical need. Gus calls them Pennies from Heaven and it seems we’ve all experienced things like this is tough times. He invites listeners to call in and share their Pennies from Heaven stories.
Also, Fr. Leo Patalinghug joins the show to talk with Gus about numerous things, including Artificial Intelligence. Fr. Leo says, like everything created by man, there are good elements and bad elements to it. He urges people never to depend on anything like that. They also talk about the Synod on Synodality, which opened yesterday in Rome, and Gus asks Fr. Leo what his thoughts are on it. Fr. Leo believes that the pope is trying to get people to talk to each other about difficult things, particularly things that divide us. Fr. Leo also talks about the food truck and how difficult it is to keep its head above water in this economy and the war currently going on in the Middle East. Gus talks about some of the extreme side-taking going on regarding this and asks Fr. Leo how we should measure this for ourselves. He tells Gus that the best way to approach this is to not take a side, but to pray for the humanity being negatively affected by this and for it to end. The last issue they talk about is the impact of Hurricane Helene and how bizarre of a storm and the devastation it caused, but if there is a silver lining in all this, it’s how, in situations like these, people are so willing to help people. They wrap it up by previewing their 2025 Portugal River Cruise Pilgrimage.
And we wrap everything up with Bob Dunning who calls in to talk about some of the best college football matchups this weekend and to review the incredible game last Saturday between Alabama and Georgia in which the Crimson Tide emerged victorious.
