Catholic author Dr. Kevin Vost calls in today to talk about his new book entitled "What is God: Answering the World's Most Important Question (with the Help of Aquinas)." Vost talks with Gus about how he uses St. Thomas Aquinas' Q&A approach to not only answer who God is but what he is as well in order to help us better understand the worthiest object of our love.
Later, Gus talks about today's Gospel from Luke where Jesus tells two similar parables. The first is about a shepherd losing one sheep and leaves the 99 others to go after it and the second is about a woman who has 10 coins and loses one and turns everything over in the house to find it. Gus talks about how the parables are about us getting lost and seeking out God again and invites listeners to call in and share a time in their lives where they got lost and found God again.
And yesterday, which was All Souls Day, Gus planned to talk about the Catholic teaching on Purgatory, which is the center point of the feast. But he changed his plans when talking to listeners about lost loved ones was so well received. He talks about it today and goes over the what the Church believes and teaches, its basis in Scripture and three common objections to it.
Also, Bob Dunning calls in to talk about Week 10's biggest matchups and pick the winners, including tonight's matchup of Appalachian State v. Coastal Carolina and the big game this weekend, #1 Tennessee vs. #3 Georgia.
