Gus is joined by Fr. Fred Jenga, the new president of Holy Cross Family Ministries, which was started by Fr. Patrick Peyton in 1947. Fr. Jenga talks about the Congregation of the Holy Cross, of which he's been a priest in the past 17 years, and some of the initiatives that are underway or upcoming. Fr. Jenga grew up in Uganda and shares that experience as well as the growth of the Catholic Church in East Africa. Aftewards, Gus talks about how robust the faith is in Africa. In fact, African priests are so prominent that many are being sent out as missionaries to the western world. Gus invites listeners who have a priest from another nation in their parish and what that's like.
Later, Gus talks about the current culture war we're in where news media, entertainment and even the government pit Christianity and the LGBTQI+ community against one another. Contrary to popular belief, the two aren't mutually exclusive. Gus wonders whether or not, with recent reactions to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bud Light, Target and other corporations jumping on the woke train and being boycotted to great effect, the tides may be changing. He poses that question to listeners.
