This week is Catholic Schools Week, so Gus welcomes Colleen McCoy-Cejka to the show. She is the owner and managing partner of Inclusion Solutions, which aids Catholic schools around the country in dealing with students with special needs and/or learning challenges. For a long time, Catholic schools struggled with that, and it forced many parents with kids who needed extra help and attention to put their kids in public schools or other schools with greater resources. She explains to Gus and listeners how their organization seeks to change that and the ways they go about it.
Also, Gus talks about his own personal experience with Catholic schools. He went to Catholic school for a few years in grade school but wasn’t a K-12 Catholic schooler. He describes his experience was a bit of a mixed bag. He personally doesn’t feel he was catechized very well but admits that he probably wasn’t very much open to it at the time. That didn’t stop him from sending his kids to Catholic schools at various stages in their lives. He invites listeners to call in and share their experience either attending a Catholic school, sending their children to one or both.
Later, Bob Dunning calls in to the show for his weekly segment to talk about numerous issues. Since it’s Catholic Schools Weeks, Gus asks him about his Catholic school experience, and he shares a story where he hosted an event at Holy Rosary Academy where he interviewed investment guru Charles Schwab in front of an audience. He shares a few other experiences as well before talking with Gus about the Super Bowl matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. They save their predictions for next week’s show, but talk about the horrible officiating that always seems to favor the Chiefs.
