Gus talk about Springfield, Illinois Bishop Thomas Paprocki publicly calling out Sen. Dick Durbin, a Catholic who resides in his diocese, for his vote against the late-term abortion bill, which was ultimately turned down. Bishop Paprocki said that Durbin is not allowed to receive communion from any church in his diocese. Gus asks listeners what they think about it.
Also, today is George Washington's birthday so Gus is joined by author Demi who talks about her new children's book, "George Washington," which delves into the first president's faith.
And Gus gives away copies of A Minute in the Church, Vol. 1 to listeners who promise to give it to a friend or family member who's not Catholic.
While I agree with the bishop and what he has done, I believe that there are probably 13 other Bishops who need to follow. Having said that I wonder Since this particular bishop has said that Sen. Durbin cannot receive communion. the hypothetical “what if” Sen. Durbin goes to confession (allowed) and receives absolution ? Is he still not allowed to receive communion? does he have to make a “public” statement about a very private situation ( confession) Just wondering…

Gus: Love your show. I was listening this morning and you were talking about a young girl with a you tube channel that is converting to Catholicism. I was wanting to find her you tube but can’t remember her name. Can you help?
Thank you.
New to Gus’ site looking for Lindsey’s 12 minute speech he mentioned this morning. Txs
