Gus eulogizes Msgr. Austin Mullen, a priest in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg, Florida. He was the pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Tampa when Gus and Michelle had their conversion experience and returned the Catholic Church. He talks about the impact he had on their faith lives and their experiences working with him in the various ministries of which they were part. Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and any priest, living or dead, who had a positive impact on them.
Later, Andrea Picciotti-Bayer of the Catholic Association and the Conscience Project calls in to talk about the Respect for Marriage Act that President Joe Biden signed into law on Tuesday. It codifies same-sex marriage and, although the name of the bill sounds nice, there are a lot of pitfalls included that threaten religious freedom. Andrea and Gus discuss several of those, which she also wrote about in a recent article for Fox News.
Also, Bob Dunning calls in to talk about several key bowl matchups as well as the untimely passing of Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach at age 61 following a massive heart attack. They also talk about USC QB Caleb Williams winning the Heisman.
