Gus talks about how yesterday's First Reading from John always confused him. It's where Jesus tells Nathanael, who became St. Bartholomew the Apostle, that he saw him under the fig tree. It wasn't so much what Jesus said that confused Gus as much as it was Nathanael's reaction where he exuberantly says, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." It wasn't until that story was adapted in the TV series "The Chosen" where, before meeting Jesus, a frustrated Nathaneal sat under the fig tree and cried to God, "Do you see me?" Although it's a fictional representation, it moved Gus to tears and made that Gospel passage come alive. Gus asks listeners to call in and talk about a Bible passage that has always confused them.
Later, John Edwards, from the Just a Guy in the Pew podcast, calls in to share his conversion story and talk about their new YouTube channel.
