Today is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation for Catholics. Gus talks a little bit about the etymology of the feast day and encourages Catholics to go to mass today. Later, in honor of today’s feast, Gus invites listeners to call in and share how they honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Also, Gus reads a letter published by Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, which offers encouragement and prayer for peace in the Middle East on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Afterwards, he explains the holy day and the relationship Catholics have with the Blessed Virgin Mary compared to some Protestant faiths.
And Bob Dunning calls in to talk with Gus about what time of day he writes his articles, the start of college football season next weekend with Week 0, and college football colors.
