In continuing with the theme of dwindling mass attendance, Gus asks listeners what Catholics in the pews can do better when it comes to reaching out to fallen-away Catholics.
Hey Gus, I know this is a little late but I just attended an evangelization Summit this weekend. Exciting speakers gave me hope! It’s too bad this wasn’t advertised on the Catholic channel as you dint get to hear speakers like Curtis Martin, Sister Anne Shields and Patrick Madrid. It was simulcast from Canada to the US, Guatemala, the UK and Australia.
Anyway, one nugget I gleaned was from a DRE talking about whole family cathechesis. You were talking about considering whether parents should be required to attend RE classes too. Until I spoke with this woman I agreed with you. She pointed out that a relationship with God has to be borne out of your free will desire. Forcing parents to participate takes that away, however, she makes whole family cathechesis so appealing her program has grown from 10 families the first year to almost fifty. She said the participating parents are sharing with their friends and that’s how it’s growing. Anyway, sorry this is so long but I thought hers was a good point that hadn’t occurred to me.
Glad to hear Michele is feeling better! I look forward to listening on Monday. Blessings.
