Today's Gospel reading tells the parable of the Good Samaritan. Gus talks about the contentious relationship between the Jews and the Samaritans at the time Jesus tells his parable. Nobody, even a priest, would touch the wounded Jew, except a Samaritan who did so at great risk. If other Samaritans found out, he’d meet their scorn and derision. Later, Gus encourages listeners to call in and share their experiences in Bible Study groups and welcomes their reflections on today’s Gospel reading about the Good Samaritan.
Also, Gus is joined by Susan Ciancio, the director of the American Life League’s Culture of Life’s Study Program, to talk about their Respect Life Month Pro-Life Essay Contest. It’s open nationally to students in grades 3 through 12. Each grade level has separate standards that are required in the essay and Susan covers a little bit of that. You can find more by clicking here. Before going into all of the details, Susan talks about how she got involved in the pro-life movement.
And it's Monday, so Gus does a couple rounds of Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
