Today is Halloween and Gus reads and reacts to a piece in Crisis Magazine by Sean Fitzpatrick entitled "What Do You Tell Your Kids About Halloween?" It addresses the annual quandary of balancing the macabre, the vulgar and the gruesome with the sacredness of the Feast of All Saints which follows. Afterwards, Gus invites listeners to call in and share what Halloween is like for them and how and if it's changed over the years.
Later, Gus reads the Catechism of the Catholic Church's teaching on the occult; that is, Ouija boards, seances, horoscopes or anything that presumes to tell the future. Afterwards, he invites listeners to call in and share if they ever dabbled in the occult.
And Andrea Picotti-Bayer of EWTN and Catholic University calls in to talk about faith and voting and how, as Catholics, we must bring our faith with us to the ballot box each and every time, especially in the midterm elections on November 8th. Also, it's Monday and that means Gus does a round of Tell Me Something Good with listeners.
