Authors Ali Ghaffari and Paul List call in to talk about their new book, "Mount Doom: The Prophecy of Tolkein Revealed." The book talks about the seminal Lord of the Rings work done by J.R.R. Tolkien and the Catholic elements that are so prevalent. They talk with Gus about the various film adaptations of the movie, including the Peter Jackson movies, which they loved, the Hobbit movies, which they thought were so-so and the new Rings of Power series by Amazon, which they both rated a solid F.
Later, Gus does a couple rounds of Tell Me Something Good with listeners and talks about three American woman whose causes for canonization the USCCB will discuss considering at the Baltimore Meetings this week. They are Cora Evans, Michelle Duppong and Mother Magaret Mary Healy Murphy. Gus talks a little bit about each.
Hi Gus,
I enjoyed your program on Mount of Doom! My son loved the Lord of the Rings but doesn’t attend church or believe in organized religion. This book will be a Christmas present from me to him with a prayer for The Holy Spirit to lead him home.
