While on pilgrimage, Gus spoke a couple times with a pilgrim who told him that, for the longest time, he didn't have a personal relationship with Jesus. It's a very evangelical expression but a very necessary action if one wants to progress in his or her faith. Gus invites listeners to call in and share what "a personal relationship" with Jesus means to them and if it's something they struggle with or a term they dislike.
Also, Gus catches up on some of the news while he's been away, including the aftermath of the Irish referendum on May 25th, which legalized abortion in Ireland. Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said that all publicly-funded hospitals, including Catholic ones, will be forced to perform abortions. Gus talks about the "slippery-slope" of the legalization of legal abortion through 12 weeks but that it will be illegal after that. Gus predicts that it'll eventually go to all nine months.
Gus, yesterday’s show is worthy of a weekly theme for Seize the Day. What does it mean to have a personal relationship with Jesus ? We can" practice "our faith and never really "live"our faith without that relationship? It is the gamechanger for us really becoming a deciple of Jesus and living in the power of the Holy Spirit! He desires it for all of us but it requires surrender and trust. The apostles in the book of" Acts of the Apostles" are not the same men that we read about in the Gospels. The difference is the Power of the Holy Spirit !! Helping people experience that Power and Healing is so needed in our world and our Church. I’m a daily listener for the last 5 years and Love your passion and your show. Consider adding that theme into Show weekly as you know our Prostetant brothers do such a better job with helping people with that conversion experience and then growing in it. Love you and pray for you Gus !!
In Jesus
Mike
